2023 Jeep EV crossover

Jeep will ramp up the electrification of its line-up with an entry-level SUV to sit below the  Jeep Renegade  – and the electric version has been caught with no disguise during a film shoot.  A name for the American brand’s newest model has not been revealed yet and details are scarce, but it is expected to be related to the Peugeot 2008, given the similarities in size and positioning, and the platform-sharing arrangements in place at Stellantis, parent company to both.  This all-electric version should, therefore, be a close relation to the electric Peugeot E-2008 - and is tipped to use Stellantis's CMP architecture, as used for EV and combustion versions of the similarly sized Vauxhall Mokka and DS 3 Crossback. The EV was shown earlier this year as part of a wide-reaching electrification strategy presentation given by Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares (below), and this newly spotted production-ready version looks to hold largely true to...

New Bentley Bentayga EWB

An extended-wheelbase version of the market-leading   Bentley Bentayga   SUV has been revealed and officially labelled it the marque’s new flagship, a status previously held by the   Bentley Mulsanne   limousine, which ended production in 2020. The new model, called EWB for Extended Wheelbase, is stretched by 180mm and has all of its extra space in the rear passenger compartment and extra length in the rear door. Sold only with a twin-turbo petrol V8 “for the time being”, it ushers in a suite of trim, paint and styling changes, the most obvious of which is a new vertically slatted grille. The EWB also introduces a new rear steering system that both reduces the turning circle and enhances high-speed stability, a refinement that first appeared in Bentley’s Flying Spur saloon in 2019 and more recently in the  Bentley Continental GT . Despite the extra length, the EWB’s turning circle of 11.8m is actually 0.6m tighter than a standard-wheelbase model’s.

The new   Mercedes-AMG E63   Final Edition brings production of Affalterbach's pure-combustion V8 sports saloons to a close. It has been revealed in the wake of two concept cars previewing the electrified future of Mercedes' performance division: the outlandish  Vision AMG  and a prototype for the next-generation  Mercedes-AMG C63  PHEV. The E63 Final Edition serves as a swansong for the firm's pure-combustion sports saloons - a lineage that dates back to the W124-generation E-Class 'Hammer' of 1986, then the world's fastest saloon. The V8 engine will continue to play a part in AMG's future - it is still available in the  Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé , produces some 577bhp in the hottest version of the new SL and is used in an 819bhp plug-in hybrid system in the new GT 63 S E-Performance – but it is set to be swapped out for an electrified four-cylinder unit in the next E63. When it arrives, likely in 2024, the next-generatio...
